Ingredients: 


300–500 beef cheek
about 250ml red wine
1 onion
1–2 carrots
2–3 cloves garlic
about 300ml beef stock or water
some herbs, salt and black pepper

Method: 


Pat the beef cheek dry, season with salt and pepper, and sear both sides until lightly browned. Sauté onion and garlic in the same pot, add carrot, then pour in red wine and bring to a boil. Add stock and herbs, return the beef cheek, cover and simmer gently for about 2–3 hours until fork-tender. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper and serve with mashed potatoes or steamed rice.
